Most workshops take place at the last weekend of October.

1995: The start of the Berkenhage workshops. We decided to host the workshops during the last weekend of October, when the shift to winter time gives us a well-needed extra hour of sleep. These workshops were devided between both flutists and fiddleplayers, with the exception of the workshop in 1999 which was for fiddle-players only.

2001: Due to a lack of interest from the fiddle-players, we changed our policy and started hosting workshops only for flutists. Until 2003, we hosted only 10 flutists.

2004: We started with a new concept 2 teachers for 20 flutists, which became the new maximum amount of participants.

2006: We noticed a burst of renewed interest from fiddle-players. We decided not to change the format for October, but we instead hosted an extra weekend in February for fiddleplayers only.

2016: After an experiment with only 16 participants instead of 20, we noticed that it not only led to less awkward squeezing around a dinner table but it was also more manageable for the teachers to teach a limited number of people. So from 2017 onwards, the limit is placed at 16 enthusiasts.
